Under immediate supervision, performs routine and simple engineering tasks to assist in product and/or process design and/or modification. This is an entry level engineering position. Develop and maintain assembly work instructions to support manufacturing operations. Provide manufacturing operations with technical assistance on any assembly problems, recommend assembly improvements and equipment requirements. Interface and coordinate with Design Engineering, Production Control, and Purchasing for the acquisition of truck components.
BS / Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering with 0-2 years experience in a repetitive assembly environment with a high volume output of an end product; knowledgeable with installation and piece part drawings, production tooling requirements, and resource planning. Exposure to government contracts and standards such as MIL-Q-9858, ASTM, ANSI, SAE, DIN, etc. preferred. Good written and oral communication skills. Knowledgeable with personal computers and word processing, spreadsheet, and data base software. Computer aided drafting (CAD) would be helpful.
